Monica Garcia Vicente, Amancio Gonzalez, Frantics Dance Company

A multifaceted dance evening with three independent works by Spanish dancers who have currently found their creative home in Germany

Monica García Vicente: "I am [not] Giselle" (Excerpts)

A dance performance by Mónica García Vicente for 2 dancers, with an original musical composition by Maewen Forest

Mónica García Vicente shows excerpts from her current production "I am [not] Giselle". A choreographic experiment in search of more realistic representations of women in romantic and contemporary ballet. The two dancers embody the complex and contradictory aspects of womanhood and femininity on, behind and beyond the stage. They explore their own longings and passions and those projected onto them, states of dependency and autonomy, their own body as a voyeuristic object and female lust. Choreography, musical composition, costumes and scenography create an aesthetic and expressive formal language of self-exploration, not least to give Giselle a stage as a real, complex woman.

Amancio Gonzalez: "Swan"

A second ago, a month ago, a year ago, a century ago... "Swan" questions how time, age, gender, tradition, norms and where you were born affect a person. González dances an iconic choreography by Michel Fokine from 1926, which the famous choreographer created for the Danish ballerina

Elna Ornberg had created. González interprets them in a new way and completely free of pathos for the male body, and thus Camille Saint-Saëns' famous music creates a completely new interpretation of this canonical work of classical ballet.

Choreography: Amancio González and Michel Fokine | Dance: Amancio González | Music: The Swan by Camille Saint-Saëns recorded by the Stockholm Chamber Duo.

Frantics Dance Company: "Ordinary People"

Together before birth - hopelessly separated

Two autonomous beings - Effortlessly harmonized

Unable to escape fate

Your motto, the competition

A constant endurance race - To the finish line, no repeat

"Ordinary People" is a duet between two women. In their work, Frantics Dance Company describes the competition, but also the cooperation of people in everyday situations. With their captivating language of movement, they transform competition into elegance, adversity into harmony. The dancers encounter each other as autonomous beings who are, as it were, intrinsically connected. Ordinary People is a celebration of humanity, a reminder of our struggle together and the beauty to be found in the most ordinary moments.
